CADWELL PARK - 13 to 15 June

Our drivers Nicola and Peter Gillatt enjoyed their second outing in the Mazda MX5's this weekend at an idyllic Cadwell Park. The weekend kicked off with testing on Friday as our drivers seeked to learn the track and some of it's many challenging corners. With the use of MGA's data logging technology both Nicola and Pete were able to analyse their laps comparing both against each other's and against different laps of their own. This enabled the drivers to improve their laps times from 2 minutes to varying 1 minute 50's - an impressive days work.

With Saturday 14th, brought qualifying and race one - not forgetting Mike, the team manager's birthday! After dry conditions for testing Friday, qualifying consisted of fairly damp conditions unfortunately. Race 1 introduced a number of protests between drivers, including an incident involving Nicola as she was unfairly pushed off track. The incident was soon resolved as the Clerk of the course deemed car number 11 as the aggressor, consequently being knocked back four places.

Sunday 15th: the second race day of the weekend! Awaking to rain, the drivers were slightly dubious of conditions on track, however fortunately the weather appeared to clear up before the first race of the day (second of the weekend) took place. Our drivers appeared to endure some playful competition between one another with Race two, luckily without damage to either car. After a delightful BBQ cooked by no other than MGA's head catering personnel, the squad were fed and rearing to go for race three - marking the end of the weekend.

Due to various offs during race two (none involving our cars - number 8 and 13 - luckily), our drivers faced some front runners behind them on the grid. This did not seem to phase either Nicola or Pete as they enjoyed a fairly trouble free race.

The last race of the day hosted Peter's best lap time of the weekend, with 1 minute 49 seconds - a vast improvement from lap times produced during testing on Friday. However Nicola wasn't so lucky as mid way through the race she encountered issues with the brakes - preventing her from driving the car to it's full potential.

Overall, our drivers and team partook in yet another enjoyable weekend and we look forward to their next round of the Mazda MX5 Supercup at Donington. Alongside the Supercup championship, MGA are also running Dave Whitmore and Ryan Cefferty in a Honda Civic in the Tintops championship - who are participating at Spa next week (Wed 25th June - Mon 30th June). MGA are also running a BMW Compact in the Trackday Trophy championship with our very promising looking novice driver, Nick DeJesus.
