MGA News

Nick DeJesus participated in his 3rd round of the MSVT Trackday Trophy championship the weekend of 16th August at Brands Hatch, on the Grand Prix circuit. Several weeks before the 'big meet', Nick travelled the tiresome journey down South, along with Mike Gorton - private instructor and team founder - and his BMW Compact.

As this was Nick's first visit to the track, both parties were unsure as to what to expect. However true to form, Nick delivered some impressive times during the test day, in fact so impressive that he was 3 seconds faster than the car went the previous year at the circuit.

During qualifying Nick managed a credible 2nd in class and an even more impressive half a second off his best time during practice. After such a promising looking test day, free practice and qualifying, both Nick and the team were left slightly disheartened as another car on track turned into his BMW Compact causing damage to the near side rear. Another issue was raised during his first lap as Nick found issues with the throttle peddle sticking off the start - leaving him with no choice but to pit at the end of lap one. With some inspection the team realised that the damage done to the near rear side of the car was simply cosmetic - consequently meaning that thankfully, Nick could continue with the race.

Following his necessary pit stop after the first lap, Nick returned to the track half a lap down from the rest of the cars. With nothing to lose, Nick drove each lap like a qualifying lap - with the intention to improve his lap times wherever possible. Thanks to a good pit stop, Nick was able to gain some time back and posted an even faster lap than he'd managed before. Showing such consistency with regards to improvement it's not surprising we view Nick as such a promising novice driver.

Due to the vast amounts of time Nick DeJesus was able to gain thanks to the efficient pit stop carried out by the team, along with Nick's impressive times - our driver was able to finish 5th in class - only 12 seconds off the time of the car finishing 2nd in class. No mean feat considering the unfortunate start Nick suffered.

Both MGA and our driver now look forward to the MSVT Trackday Trophy's next meeting at Silverstone during the weekend of 5th - 7th September.

What our customers say about us...

In 2007 I won Class 2 of the Britcar Championship and finished 2nd overall in the Championship partnered by Mark Clynes. This was due to the help of MGA and I would not have achieved such good results without their tremendous support throughout the season.
